ein experimentelles Selbstportrait

kreative Wege

creative paths

In the realm of experimental self-portraiture, every photograph is a unique chapter in a visual autobiography. Whether it's the surreal lines created by treating a glass plate with oil or the abstract beauty born out of unconventional combinations, each image captures a moment of the artist's evolution. For those captivated by this genre, the journey of self-discovery through experimental self-portraiture becomes an ongoing narrative, a testament to the boundless potential within every individual frame.

For 14 years, I have been dedicated to finding creative ways to bring various photographic ideas to life. I have experimented with techniques such as body painting and blacklight (colors), water, various light settings, effects using projectors, fog machines, wind machines, smoke bombs, and surface manipulation (e.g., glass).

Simple results sometimes arise from complex workarounds

and one must become truly inventive when working within limited possibilities. Figuring out how to get from A to B to C to D requires careful consideration, and these additional paths are immensely instructive, propelling one forward. Through experimentation, new techniques, unique solutions, and interesting perspectives are discovered 💡 These are my learnings from 14 years of experimental self-portraiture.

For this self-portrait series I treated a glass plate with oil, creating these surreal lines. Title: "Unreal II: The distortion of reality" Self Portrait, October 2023

I'm a self portrait, photo artist & graphic designer living in Germany. Since 2008, I’ve been exploring creative ways to bring various photographic ideas to life through self-portraits and artistic portraits. I experiment a lot with body painting and blacklight colors, water, different lighting techniques, shadows and light, effects using projectors, fog machines, wind machines, smoke and the manipulation of various surfaces using oil, gel, water, and different types of paint.

My self-portraits are an expression of my inner world. I process my experiences and ideas and dreams and release them into something new. Each of my images is carefully crafted, requiring several hours of shooting and post-processing. Since I primarily create self-portraits, it requires a lot of effort and creativity to bring the ideas to life.
